The ingredients needed to cook Brenda's Pasties:
- Use 6 each pork chops, cubed
- Prepare 1 each round steak, cubed
- Provide 3 large potatoes, cubed
- Prepare 1 large onion, diced
- Prepare 1 cup Mushrooms, diced
- Use 1 cup Bell peppers, red & green diced
- You need 2 box pie crusts (2 crusts per box)
- Use 1 butter
- Prepare 1 salt & pepper
Steps to make Brenda's Pasties:
- Preheat oven to 375°.
- Cut up beef and pork into cubes about 1/4" in size.
- Cut potatoes into 1/4" cubes.
- The quantity of potatoes should be about twice the combined amount of meat. Keep cubed potatoes in cold water to keep them from turning brown.
- Cut up the onion, mushrooms and bell peppers into 1/4" pieces also.
- Roll out the pie crust and lay over a 9" pie plate sprayed with cooking spray.
- Add raw pork, beef, and diced vegetables until the pie plate is 1/2 full when crust is folded over.
- Yes, All ingredients are raw at this time! :-)
- Add a couple pats of butter and salt and pepper (and any other seasonings you like) to taste.
- Fold crust over and crimp closed. Cut a few slits in crust to vent during baking.
- Repeat with the rest of the ingredients in the other crust.
- Cover with foil and bake for about 1 hour. Remove foil and bake another 10 minutes to brown crust.
- Remove from oven and serve hot.
- According to my friend that gave me this recipe if you eat with ketchup you are a Yooper and if you eat it with gravy (like me) you are a Troll! LOL!
- For seasonings I used a fajita seasoning mix that includes garlic powder. You can also add other vegetables if you so desire… I did not.
- Baked pasties may be frozen, unbaked pasties do not freeze well due to the potatoes.
