  2. Provide 2 & 1/2 cups chickpeas
  3. Provide 1 tbp baking powder

Instructions to make Alu & cholay ka salan:
  1. In a pot Soak chickpeas along with baking soda for at least 7-8 hours.
  2. In a pot add 3 cups water or as required, potatoes cut in cubes, 1 tbp red chilli flakes, 1 tsp red chilli powder, salt to taste, pickled carrots, kalongi, 1/2 tbp turmeric.cover lid and cook until potatoes are done and the consistency is a bit runny just like bahar wali.
  3. In a separate pot add 4 tbp oil and onion.fry until light golden brown. Now add tomatoes, 1/2 tbp red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt.
  4. Cook for 5-10 minutes and add chickpeas alongwith it's water. Cover lid and let it cook until chickpeas are soft and the gravy is just as bahar walay cholay or adjust as you like.
  5. Yummy cholay and poori are ready to be served with pooris and halwa.
